By integrating Microsoft Mesh into Microsoft Teams, users can collaborate in immersive spaces that replicate the feel of in-person interactions.

Through these immersive experiences, users can engage with each other in real-time using 3D avatars, enhancing the sense of presence and collaboration. This platform supports seamless collaboration in various scenarios, from brainstorming sessions to large-scale virtual events. The Mesh toolkit further empowers users by providing tools for creating, saving, and sharing 3D environments, making it easier to manage presentations, interact with objects, and enhance the overall meeting experience.

As a result, Microsoft Mesh breaks down geographical barriers, ensuring that colleagues and Teams users, regardless of their location, feel fully engaged in meetings and events. This innovation facilitates engaging experiences and supports mesh development overview, enhancing the capability of Microsoft Mesh to create effective and interactive virtual environments.

Join mesh events in teams

We’re thrilled to share the first Mesh TAP preview of Mesh events integrated within Microsoft Teams, marking a significant advancement. This update introduces several highly anticipated features, including Mac support, enabling attendees to join Mesh events seamlessly from their Mac devices. Additionally, IT administrators can now streamline the setup process as there's no longer a need to deploy a separate Mesh native app for Windows.

Mesh events now operate directly within the Teams app, supporting both the Teams web client in Edge/Chrome and the Teams desktop client. This integration ensures that Mesh events run within a familiar and secure environment that employees are accustomed to. The Microsoft Mesh app is now conveniently accessible from the left rail of the Teams client, making it easier for users to browse and join Mesh events.

This enhancement brings immersive spaces and custom experiences to the forefront, facilitating better mixed reality interactions through the Mesh toolkit. The update is designed to streamline end user training, making it simpler for users to get started with Microsoft Mesh and engage in face connections and immersive interactions using avatars.

With these advancements, Microsoft Mesh continues to improve the management and execution of immersive experiences, ensuring that both event organisers and participants benefit from a more efficient and engaging virtual environment.

Organiser tools and people panel

The Mesh application has recently reorganised its menu bar to enhance the management of attendee participation for event organisers. The Organiser tools button now includes streamlined options such as Mute all, enable/disable Hand-raise, Megaphone, Screen-share, and Broadcast for Multi-room events. These enhancements give event organisers more control over their sessions, ensuring that events run smoothly and efficiently.

The People panel has also been updated to display all participants in an event, making it easier to identify who has raised their hand. For Multi-room events, organisers can now seamlessly switch between the People tab and the Additional rooms tab, providing a clear and comprehensive overview of attendance and participation across various rooms within the event.

This update underscores the commitment of Microsoft Mesh to improving immersive spaces and custom experiences in Microsoft Teams. It supports the Mesh creators community by offering enhanced tools for developers and creators to design and manage immersive experiences effectively. The integration of avatars for Teams and the Mesh toolkit further facilitates the creation and management of engaging and interactive environments within Teams.

Mesh's Expanded Support for Larger Events

One of the most exciting updates is the expanded support for larger events in Microsoft Mesh. Multi-room Mesh events can now accommodate up to 330 participants, a significant increase from the previous limit of 200. This enhancement allows organisations to host more extensive and inclusive events without concerns about capacity limitations.

These updates are designed to enhance the user experience, streamline event management, and support more effective remote collaboration. By integrating mixed reality features and expanding support for developers, the updates enable more dynamic and interactive experiences. The new capabilities also aim to improve user training and streamline the setup and management of Teams meetings.

As part of Microsoft's ongoing commitment to innovation, they are focused on addressing user feedback and enhancing the functionalities of Microsoft Mesh. The improvements align with the goals of the Microsoft Tech Community, facilitating better custom experiences and more engaging immersive spaces within Teams. This ensures that both organisers and participants benefit from a more seamless and efficient Microsoft Mesh experience.
